Vera Neumann (American, 1907–1993) enjoyed a following as varied as her designs: First Lady Bess Truman selected Vera motifs for White House fabrics, and Marilyn Monroe draped herself in Vera scarves for her last photo shoot. She tagged many of her cheery creations with her iconic ladybug logo, a symbol of happiness to the artist and perhaps the secret behind her success. Today, many examples of her work are in the collection of The Costume Institute at The Met. Our joyful tote features a detail adapted from her original piece entitled Central Park (1963).
